We've Been Inspected!

The American Kennel Club is constantly doing inspections of breeding kennels in order to raise the standards of dog and kennel conditions as well as overall record keeping for the dogs and various activities that are part of a breeding kennel's basic purpose. It's actually a very good thing to get an inspection, as it validates the things a breeder is doing right and helps him or her to correct any outnesses that exist.

Our kennel was inspected by the AKC on September 28th of this year. The inspector found that we were in full compliance with AKC dog care and kennel conditions standards. That's a good thing!

A Fantastic Update

As some of you may know, we like to keep track of our owners and their pups, to see how things are progressing, take a look at how the pups are developing and get any great updates from owners. Last week, we received a truly great update from Sandy in Virginia. She has a Gwen daughter, Riesling, who is a year and a half old. Here is an excerpt from Sandy's email to me, along with a pic of her beautiful pup:

Hello Bob!!

I hope all is well with you and all of your beautiful dogs!! I just want to send you an update on Riesling, she's now almost 19 months old and is just stunning!! I have attached pictures for you to see.

She is a solid & healthy 90 lbs and is a fast favorite to all she comes in contact with! She gets along beautifully with my white boxer and lovesmyson to no end. She is a true blessing to my son & I. She is a constant source of laughter and even now, still chases shadows. I can't tell you howmany people I have met that have told me that she changes their understanding and opinion of what a Rottweiler is and every time I hear it, I can't help but be proud of her and thankful to you for carrying on such an amazing line of the breed. She is gentle, loving, and so extremely devoted to our little family and I don't remember what life was like before she arrived. She is truly 90 lbs of loving lap dog and worth the trip from VA to FL to bring her home!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and, please, share them other people so others can see just how fantastic the line is!!

"The Complete Rottweiler"

We just found out from a new owner of one of our pups that the Muriel Freeman book, "The Complete Rottweiler" is available at Amazon books. She was able to buy a slightly used edition for five dollars. In case you don't know, the Freeman book is one of the best texts on Rottweiler ownership ever published. This was the first book I ever read on the Rottweiler breed and I still quote Ms. Freeman's advice on everything from how to fix an ear set to descriptions of the breed standard. This woman helped write the updated breed standard for the Rottweiler in 1978, was a judge, handler, breeder and fancier who dedicated her life to this fantastic dog. If you own a Rottweiler, you may want to pick up a copy of the book, which was originally printed in the eighties.
